A paradox 1 is "the confluence or joining together of two or more seemingly incompatible ideas or events". Source: Oxford Concise Dictionary 1992
Being in two places at once would be an example of a paradox.
The nature of reality in the realms of perception, such as the physical Universe, is an example of a paradox associated with the perception of separateness each soul (sic) experiences in this realm, when in reality each soul is an extension of Source (i.e. God) and the perception of separation is simply an illusion for the purpose of experience.
Many have experienced this paradox during a near death experience (NDE) associated with an incredible sense of ONENESS with the Universe (i.e. 'All That Is'), whilst still being fully conscious of their 'separate' ego self at the same time. In other words, most people who experience a near death experience report a profound KNOWING that they are the Universe, but from within the perception of their ego self.
The physical universe appears to be riddled with paradoxes such as this.
Most paradoxes in this realm cannot be resolved or understood under the paradigm or 'rules' of this reality if only because those rules are really just an illusion embarked upon for the purpose of experiencing the perception of being separate. Perhaps not unsurprisingly the paradox of it all seems to be resolved when a person experiences some form of 'holotropic' or altered state of consciousness. (the paradox of it all just seems to melt away) 2
1. PARADOX; Definition: "a seemingly absurd or self-contradictory statement or proposition that when investigated or explained may prove to be well founded or true." Source Apple Dictionary 2007
2. HOLOTROPIC state was a term coined by the American psychologist, Stanislav Grof, to describe altered states of consciousness. Most spiritual experiences are a form of holotropic state.
